2015年10月，国务院印发《统筹推进世界一流大学和一流学科建设总体方案》，正式启动“双一流”建设工作。综合高校办学条件、学科水平等情况，有关部门确定首轮140所“双一流”建设高校和465个“双一流”建设学科。第二轮聚焦服务国家重大战略需求，在基础学科等国家急需领域加强布局，新增7所建设高校、41个建设学科。
